i'm doing a research paper on the bull jumping ceremony and was glad i stumbled upon this article. on another cite there was alot of details about the ceremony and the Hamer tribe but it totally contradicted what you said about the young man being shunned from his tribe because he failed the test. on that cite it said that if the man-to-be failed, he wasn't allowed to choose his wife and he had to wait another year untill he could try again to become a man in Hamer society. although the information contradicts itself i will be including both views in my paper. i love your picters, they depict what is happening without alot of words.

!!! Even though it may have done 40 crossings this year I wouldn't want to load my mini cooper on it. Nicely done. Motorcycle travel in some ways is so much easier! Even though sketchy river crossings are also nerve wracking on 2 wheels.

I just found this account of your journey. I am a friend of Gabriel's, and I am so sad to say that his body was found yesterday morning. I would like to understand more how Mt Mulanje is - right now, we are overwhelmed by this loss...

Ana,

Just contact me through the form on the website or give me your email, I will reply to you.

Sorry about your friend. We really wished we could have found him but we did not see any trace at all.
This mountain can be really nasty in bad weather as we've discovered.

My name is Helen Harris. I'm a friend of the hiker (Gabriel Buchmann) who went missing in Sapitwe last week. His family and and friends have been trying to pull resources together to find him, as we understand that the search is close to being cancelled. It was very refreshing to read your entry, since for those of us who are far away, it's difficult to get an assessment of what's going on there. If you can think of anything else that may be relevant for the search, if you have news, etc. we would really appreciate it. You can reach me at the email helenharris@gmail.com. Thank you. Sincerely, Helen
